Do You Want to Learn More About Sina and His T(h)rust Talent Journey?

Following my recent #SunnyPeople post introducing Can and the T(h)rust Talent Program, today we are saying hi to Osman Sina Aygündüz, another standout face from our Line Maintenance Team and a valued member of our T(h)rust Talent initiative.
Hailing from Afyonkarahisar, Sina graduated from Eskişehir Technical University's Department of Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance. He joined SunExpress Airlines right after graduation and has been working in our Line Maintenance Team ever since. His daily responsibilities include supporting maintenance activities, following technical procedures, and continuously expanding his practical expertise.

Before diving in, feel free to press play on one of Sina's favorite song, Linkin Park's "Somewhere I Belong," and let it serve as the background soundtrack to this interview!
1. How did you learn about the T(h)rust Talent Program, and what motivated you to apply?
I learned about the T(h)rust Talent Program through SunExpress. What motivated me most was the opportunity to improve my technical knowledge, gain practical experience, and learn directly from experienced professionals. I saw it as a great opportunity to develop myself and take the next step in my career.
2. How would you evaluate your journey so far, transitioning from a student to an active member of our Line Maintenance team?
It has been a challenging but very rewarding journey. As a student, most of my knowledge was theoretical. Working in line maintenance helped me understand how that knowledge is applied in real-life situations. I’ve become more confident, responsible, and aware of the importance of teamwork and safety.

3. What is the most rewarding part of working here for you, and what has been your biggest challenge so far?
The most rewarding part is seeing myself improve day by day and being able to contribute to the team. The biggest challenge has been adapting to the responsibility and precision required in aircraft maintenance. But I believe those challenges have helped me grow the most.
4. In your opinion, what sets the T(h)rust Talent Program apart from a standard aircraft technician role or application process?
I think what makes the T(h)rust Talent Program different is that it goes beyond a standard technician role. It gives young technicians the opportunity to learn in a structured environment, gain hands-on experience, and work with experienced professionals. For me, it’s not just a training program; it’s a career development opportunity.

5. Tell us about your Lufthansa Technical Training experience and what you gained from the training environment in Hamburg?
My Lufthansa Technical Training GmbH experience in Hamburg was very valuable for me, both professionally and personally. It gave me a different perspective on aircraft maintenance and helped me understand how maintenance is approached in another country. Communicating with foreign instructors also improved my English and gave me more confidence in expressing myself professionally. Overall, it was a great experience that helped me grow both as a technician and as a person.
6. Any last thoughts or recommendations for aircraft technician students or anyone planning a career in a maintenance organization?
My advice would be to stay curious, keep learning, and never be afraid to ask questions. Aircraft maintenance requires patience, discipline, and attention to detail. If you really enjoy learning and working as part of a team, I believe it can be a very rewarding career. And most importantly, always put safety first.

Thank you, Sina, for sharing your experience from the heart. I am sure you will serve as a great role model for many aspiring aircraft maintenance students!
