Transforming Recruitment at SunExpress: The Journey to SkyHire and Our New Careers Website

After months of hard work and collaboration, I am excited to announce the launch of our new Applicant Tracking System and careers website at SunExpress. This project, known as SkyHire, was more than just a system upgrade. It was a chance to rethink how we recruit, simplify our processes, and create a more connected digital experience for candidates and our teams.
As the Senior Product Owner of SkyHire, I had the privilege of guiding this transformation. Bringing together the needs of the business, technology, and people was a rewarding challenge. I want to share the story behind this journey, the lessons we learned, and how this new platform will support our recruitment efforts moving forward.

Rethinking Recruitment Processes
Before SkyHire, our recruitment system was functional but limited. It did not fully support the way our teams wanted to work or the experience we wanted to offer candidates. We saw an opportunity to improve by:
Simplifying application steps to reduce candidate drop-off
Automating routine tasks to free up HR time for more strategic work
Creating a seamless experience that connects candidates with our brand and culture
This meant looking beyond just technology. We examined every step of the recruitment process, from job posting to onboarding, to identify pain points and areas for improvement. The goal was to build a system that supports our people and reflects how we want to work together.
Building a Connected Digital Experience
One of the key goals was to create a careers website that feels welcoming and easy to navigate. Candidates can now explore opportunities at SunExpress, learn about our values, and join our Talent Community to stay connected for future roles. This digital experience is designed to be clear and engaging, helping us attract the right talent.
The new Applicant Tracking System works behind the scenes to manage applications efficiently. It provides our HR team with better tools to track candidates, communicate quickly, and make informed decisions. This connection between the website and the tracking system creates a smooth journey for everyone involved.
Collaboration Made It Possible
This project was a true team effort. I want to thank our HR team for their insights and dedication. My colleagues across IT, PMO, Procurement, and Legal played critical roles in making sure the system met all requirements and was delivered on time. Our partners also contributed valuable expertise.
I am especially grateful to my teammates Asuman Kocadag, Kuday Öğünlü, Salih Bakirli, Fatma Sarı, and Emir Aksoy. Your collaboration and support were essential every step of the way. A special thanks to Yiğid Acar for your leadership and trust from the start, and to my manager Safak Seber for giving me the opportunity to lead the IT side of this project.

What This Means for SunExpress and Candidates
With SkyHire and the new careers website, we have laid a strong foundation for the future of recruitment at SunExpress. The system will help us:
Attract more qualified candidates with a user-friendly application process
Reduce administrative work for HR, allowing more focus on people and culture
Stay connected with talent through our new Talent Community
For candidates, this means a clearer path to join our team and a better understanding of what it’s like to work at SunExpress. We want to build lasting relationships with talented individuals who share our values and vision.
